After observations, interviews, and personal experiences, I was able to research and compare Asian American adoptees and second-generation Asian Americans and how their lives have shaped their identity. There were a variety of factors shown to have an effect on an individual's identity but I found that the environment an individual has been surrounded by has a large effect on whom and how they identify themselves. Data showed that there are similarities and differences when comparing Asian American adoptees and second-generation Asian American students here at the University of Illinois.unpublishe
